Over the last month or so, main-roster stars like Tyler Breeze, Fandango and Apollo Crews have all made appearances in NXT. While Crews merely had a match with Kushida on an episode of the show, Breeze and Fandango have stuck around for at least one taping cycle.
While speaking on his Edge and Christian Pod of Awesomeness, Edge thought that NXT's move offered both positives and negatives. One positive he saw for the brand's move involved current main-roster stars who may be stagnating on either RAW or SmackDown. He revealed that he thought that they could help NXT out in many ways. Wrestletalk.com carried transcripts of his comments.
A new life?
Not every star can get onto WWE TV regularly but with five hours of programming, a lot more stars could get onto shows than actually do. The Wildcard Rule has allowed less exposure for stars not in the main event or mid-card, while main-eventers like Roman Reigns, Alexa Bliss and the New Day show up on both Monday and Tuesday nights.
Since some stars may be struggling on the main roster for one reason or another, Edge feels that the current trend of main-roster stars heading to NXT would be extremely beneficial. Among those stars he thinks could benefit from moving are Apollo Crews and Cesaro.
“What I hope is that if there is talent that are spinning their wheels and they can do so much more, like an Apollo Crews, like a Cesaro. So many people. Let them go to NXT, man. And let them shine and let them do their thing. That to me is how you can fill up those two hours, that to me is how you can use those guys to teach the younger folks, ‘Okay, this is live TV. This is how this works,’ and I think that’s the key.”
A likely trend
Before some stars from RAW and SmackDown began appearing in NXT, Bayley and Sasha Banks declared that they'd be defending their tag team titles across all brands, including the yellow one. They didn't get the chance, but several stars who might not be featured as much on the main roster could certainly contribute to NXT's new structure, especially since they have had careers on both brands.
