What’s the story?
In a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Elias opened up on a myriad of topics.
Elias seemed rather unperturbed about the Elimination Chamber being a punishing structure, while also asserting how it’d help him prepare for Brock Lesnar. Besides, Elias also recalled his NXT days, as well as competing with Braun Strowman and John Cena.
In case you didn’t know…
Elias is considered to be one of the WWE’s top young prospects today.
Nicknamed “The Drifter”, Elias is known to stand out from most other WWE Superstars owing to his musical performances, and guitarist/singer gimmick.
The heart of the matter
Elias noted that most of the mannerisms he displays on WWE’s main roster programming today have been derived from back when he used to perform similar segments at NXT house shows—something that truly helped him hone his skills—which in turn make house shows unpredictable, must-watch events for the fans.
Additionally, Elias gave props to his opponents, Braun Strowman and John Cena; stating that while Strowman is a giant who can inflict a ton of damage on anyone, Cena has been in the ring with every legend and done it all. Elias added that when faced with the two aforementioned competitors, one has to step up and bring one’s ‘A’ game every time.
Furthermore, on tales of the Elimination Chamber being a punishing matchup, and facing Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34, Elias stated—
"I'm pretty much not focusing on that aspect of the chamber. I've heard stories from guys in there but until I get in there myself and experience it, I won't know what I'm getting into. If there was ever a match to prepare me for Lesnar it would have to be the Elimination Chamber—you have to go through everybody and you have to deal with that structure. I've seen what the beast can do to the likes of Braun, Roman and Cena."
What’s next?
Elias, Cena, Strowman, The Miz, Finn Balor, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins compete in the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match, which takes place at the Elimination Chamber PPV on February 25th.
The winner of the aforementioned matchup goes on to face Brock Lesnar for the latter’s WWE Universal Championship at Wrestlemania 34 in April.
Author’s take
Elias is perhaps one of the most skilled performers today and a dark horse in the WWE.This incredible athlete could potentially breakthrough as a huge star for the WWE in the near future.
Besides, Elias is indeed one of the few Superstars who could give the Beast a good contest inside the squared circle—and that alone makes a bout between him and Lesnar worthy.
