What's the story?
Emma was one of the shock releases in the fall of 2017 alongside Summer Rae and Darren Young. Since her departure, Emma has remained quiet about how she responded to her WWE release, but the former Diva commented on her release in a recent interview with Sporting News.
In case you didn't know...
Many fans count Emma as one of the women who helped to kick-start the Women's Revolution down in NXT, since she was part of the match to crown the first ever NXT Women's Champion alongside Paige but came up short.

Emma wasn't able to lift a championship throughout her career in WWE but was given a push when she was rebranded as Emmalina, a character that lasted less than a minute in WWE before the company allowed her to go back to her Emma character.
It was reported by a number of outlets that the writing was on the wall with Emma for a while after this failed character because she gained a lot of heat backstage which then led to her release not long afterwards.
The heart of the matter
Emma hasn't openly spoken about her release in recent months, but it seems that she was able to reveal how she reacted when she found out that her contract had been terminated in a recent interview with Sporting News.
"I was definitely surprised. I really enjoyed my match with Asuka at the pay-per-view, and that was the first singles match [on pay-per-view] that I had there. So I was definitely surprised when I found out, but it gave me almost like a launching pad to go out and wrestle for all these companies elsewhere. It was almost a reminder for the fans that I can wrestle. So it really helped me moving forward and I'm glad that I can wrestle everywhere now and the demand is there."
Emma has gone back to using her real name Tenille Dashwood on the Independent Circuit and has already turned a few heads since competing in matches against the likes of James Ellsworth and Angelina Love.
What's next?
As Emma stated, it seems that she is using WWE as a launching pad to help her continue to make a name for herself in the wrestling world. Emma currently wrestles for Ring of Honor and as part of their Supercard of Honor XII show tomorrow night she could become the first ever Women of Honor Champion.
Author's take
Emma was never used to her full advantage in WWE, it seems that she could finally be able to lift a Championship tomorrow night and she definitely deserves it.
Her release came as a shock to the WWE Universe since she had been part of a few decent matches in the weeks prior to the announcement. However, it seems that Emma has been able to turn this negative into a positive and continues to make her passion into a career.
