What’s the story?
WWE Superstar Emma has revealed on her Instagram account that she is headed back to the United States for tests on her latest injury.
The Background
As reported earlier in the week, Emma sustained an injury at Sunday’s WWE Live Event in Liverpool, England. The incident occurred in a spot with Sasha Banks that saw the Australian land awkwardly on her shoulder, leading to the referee throwing up the dreaded ‘X’ sign, which signifies a legitimate injury to a performer.
Emma has since commented on the injury, on Monday she Tweeted “Just a little unlucky…Thanks for all the messages. Waiting to see what it is…”. This rules out any hopes that this was just part of an angle and it seems that Emma has unfortunately suffered yet another setback.
The heart of the matter
Following on from this on Tuesday morning, Emma posted the following on her Instagram account, confirming that her WWE European Tour has ended prematurely and she has flown back to America.
What’s next?
The extent of Emma’s injury is still unclear, but we should have more news later in the week after she has undergone some tests.
Author’s Take
This is more bad news for Emma who has only recently returned from an injury that kept her out for a large portion of 2016. Despite weeks and months of vignettes, her ‘Emmalina’ character was dropped immediately after debuting and she has reverted back to her ‘Evil Emma’ persona.
Obviously, this latest injury will come as a disappointment for Emma, who was one of NXT’s biggest female stars in its early days and played a significant role in the beginning of WWE’s Women’s revolution. She is yet to truly find her stride on the main roster, but hopefully, this injury will not rule her out for too long and she will be able to return and show the WWE Universe why many people consider her one of the most talented female performers in the company.
