For the past couple of days, several rumors indicated the in-ring return of Emma. She has been out of action due to a back injury for the last few months. PWInsdier noted that she was scheduled to be on the road with WWE, which hints her eventual return to the squared circle.
Those rumors were indeed true as it as earlier today, Emma made her first appearance for the WWE since May. During a house show at Louisville, she re-entered the WWE ring as the special guest referee for a six women tag team action of the red brand. The team of Sasha Banks, Bayley and Alicia Fox defeated the alliance of Charlotte, Dana Brooke, and Nia Jax, when Brooke tapped out to a Banks statement.
Although there were confusions as to which brand Emma would be a part of, it looks like she will be joining the RAW team. Her addition to the roster will provide a certain depth to the women’s division. She could portray a strong heel character and prove to be a contender for the RAW Women’s Championship.

When Emma made her main-roster debut in 2014, the character was unsuccessful in winning over the WWE Universe. After another brief stint in NXT, she made her return to the main shows during the WrestleMania 32 season. Emma, who by then was potraying a villainous persona, was also rumored to be in a feud against the WWE Women’s Champion during the post WrestleMania period. Her injury however, resulted in the change of those plans of the creative team.
Dana Brooke was promoted to the main roster at that time and was booked to work as the manager of Emma. The two were pretty successful during their NXT tenure and WWE wanted them as an unstoppable force in women's division. As Emma couldn’t compete, Dana was paired up with Charlotte and has been playing that role since then.
From the recent episodes of RAW, it is clear that there is a lot of tension between Charlotte and her protege Dana Brooke. It is eminent that the two will split up very soon. As Emma’s return to the main roster is on the cards, we may expect her to join forces with Dana once again which could propel her back into the Women’s Championship picture.
