What's the story?
Eric Bischoff was a special guest on the "After 83 Weeks with Christy Olsen" show, where he talked about various subjects in relation to his new role with WWE. This marks the first public interview Bischoff has held since acquiring the Executive Director role.
In case you didn't know...
Eric Bischoff was announced as an Executive Director with WWE, alongside Paul Heyman, last June. Bischoff will oversee the SmackDown Live brand in terms of the creative process, and will also be working directly with FOX executives to ensure a smooth transition to their networks this Fall. Bischoff is also a co-host for the podcast "83 Weeks" alongside Conrad Thompson.
The heart of the matter
During the interview with Christy Olsen, Bischoff admitted that he has much to learn in terms of his new role, the wrestling business and television product since leaving the business several years ago.
"The honest answer is, I've got a lot to learn between now and the time I actually am fully integrated into the process, because the audience has changed. Television has changed. So much has changed over the last five or seven years that I've got some catching up to do. I'm not going to sugarcoat it."
What's next?
Eric Bischoff is expected to begin his duties as the Executive Director for SmackDown Live very soon. Rumors have been swirling that he and Paul Heyman had plans laid out to completely separate the rosters, change the stage setups, etc, but those rumors have yet to be proven true.
