Cody Rhodes was not impressed with the gimmick of ‘Stardust’. He wanted the officials to write it off but the creatives had different plans in store. They wanted to proceed with Stardust rather than using Cody. He tried to convince them for several months but ultimately realised that his demands won’t be fulfilled by the writers. Hence, he decided to terminate his contract with the company.
After ending his 9 year tenure with WWE, Rhodes announced on Twitter that he will be appearing in independent wrestling promotions. The former WWE Superstar has matches scheduled with Kurt Angle, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pat Buck and ‘Miracle’ Mike Bennett for independent shows, this summer. Most probably, he will also wrestle in PWG's Battle of Los Angeles.
Wrestlinginc.com reports that a former WWE superstar seems not so impressed with Cody’s indie career. He is none other than the former 3 time WWE Tag Team Champion, Justin Gabriel. Recently, he took to Twitter and mocked Cody's indie run. Soon as he tweeted, he became the subject of criticism of several wrestling fans. Eventually, Gabriel clarified himself by tweeting that he was just working the fans on social media.
