WWE News: Former WWE Champion says John Cena is one of the greatest wrestlers "in the Universe"

Alberto El Patron recently talked with Contralona TV, going in depth on a variety of topics.

Patron stated that John Cena is one of the best wrestlers "in the universe."

In case you didn't know...

Alberto El Patron worked in WWE under the name Alberto Del Rio, going on to win the 40-man Royal Rumble match in 2011 and winning the WWE Championship as well as the World Heavyweight Championship.

Patron left WWE in 2014, and came back the next year at the Hell In A Cell PPV to defeat John Cena for the United States Championship.

Recently, Patron made headlines when he stated that he would like to come back to WWE and he regrets the things he had said about Triple H. After Patron's 2nd departure from WWE, he was seen making negative comments about WWE and Triple H in a video that also featured Paige.

The heart of the matter

Patron thanked WWE for giving him several opportunities, and named Cena as being one of the greatest wrestlers alive today.

"I thank them for the time I was with [WWE] and everything they gave me, the Royal Rumble marked my life, marked my experience. But I learned from many people, I became a better wrestler thanks to my matches with Edge, with Christian, with Rey Mysterio, with John Cena, who even though, you, the fans want to criticize him: John Cena is one of the best wrestlers of the universe. Wrestlers - yes, I said it well and I repeat it: wrestlers."

What's next?

As per recent rumors, WWE is not interested in bringing back Alberto El Patron in any capacity. The former WWE Champion didn't leave on good terms and we might never see him inside a WWE ring ever again.
