PWInsider is reporting that former WWE Superstar Curt Hawkins was backstage during last night’s episode of SmackDown Live. Hawkins has reportedly re-signed with the WWE and will be on the blue brand’s roster, wrestling on Tuesday nights.
Hawkins first appeared on WWE programming in 2007 for the ECW brand as part of a tag-team with Zack Ryder (then called Brett Major) before the duo were quickly moved up to SmackDown later in the year as the eighth pick in the 2007 Supplemental Draft. His most notable storyline in the WWE was when he and Ryder were a part of Edge and Vickie Guerrero’s La Familia faction.
Hawkins if a former WWE Tag-Team Champion which he held with Zack Ryder. They won the titles from John Morrision and The Miz at Great American Bash 2008 in a fatal-4-way match that also involved Jesse & Festus and Finlay and Hornswoggle, making them the youngest WWE Tag Team Champions at the time. They lost the titles in September 2008 to Carlito and Primo.
WWE has promised fans a New Era but a major part of their plans for the New Era seem to be re-signing mid-carders from the past like Rhyno, Jinder Mahal and now Curt Hawkins.
