We hope Gail Kim a very speedy recovery!
We hope Gail Kim a very speedy recovery!

What's the story?

Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer and former WWE Women's Champion, Gail Kim had to be hospitalized after what was thought to be a food poisoning scare. Eventually, it turned out that she needed to have an appendectomy.

Thankfully, the operation went off well and she's well once again. Kim went to Twitter and let her fans know that she was in no danger.

In case you didn't know...

Gail Kim is considered by many, to be the greatest female wrestler in history. Not only did she win the Women's Championship on her very first night, she was also the first ever Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion.

She went on to hold the Championship a record seven times and even retired as the Champion. Today, she guides young talent in the locker room as a mentor. Moreover, she also works as a producer in Impact Wrestling.

The heart of the matter

When the news first broke, there was some amount of initial panic as it was suspected that Gail Kim was down with food poisoning. Her celebrity chef husband encouraged her to go to the hospital where it was discovered that she has appendicitis.

At the time of writing this, it is believed that Kim will be released on Tuesday morning. She seemed to be in capable hands and from the looks of it, the surgery went off well. We thank Wrestling Inc. for the update and the heads up.

What's next?

Appendicitis is a relatively small procedure and I'm certain Gail Kim will be up and running soon. Even after her retirement, she remains an integral figure in Impact Wrestling. I guess she'll continue to remain an on-screen character, as a mentor for the babyfaces like Allie.

Author's take

I've been fortunate enough to interact with Gail Kim in the past. Even on the phone, she comes across as the warmest and nicest person in wrestling.

I wish her a very speedy recovery on behalf of SportsKeeda Wrestling.
