One of the WWE’s most outlandish and memorable tag teams is headed for a return to the company on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.
According to a post on the WWE website, the team will appear on tonight’s show, which will also include more matches for the new SmackDown tag team championship tournament. That bracket will culminate with a new championship team being crowned on Sept. 11 at Backlash.
“It has been quite some time since we have seen The Headbangers in a WWE ring and one must wonder why tonight will be the night for their return,” the report says.

It can be expected that the Headbangers, who have performed on the indy scene in recent years, would participate in the tournament, likely against the team of Heath Slater and Rhyno.
Both Thrasher, real name Glenn Ruth, and Mosh, real name Chaz Warrington, indicated the return on Twitter.
