WWE’s new era began with the season premiere of RAW on September 30, featuring an all-new announce team of Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin and Jerry “The King” Lawler.
Speaking on his The Jerry Lawler Show podcast, Lawler revealed that he is “not crazy about being a commentator” because of the amount of pressure and preparation that is required to tell stories and call the in-ring action.
Regarding his return to announcing on RAW, the Hall of Famer revealed that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon did not interfere with his commentary during the episode, except when he congratulated all three announcers at the end of the night for doing an “awesome” job.
“If you really do screw up, say something wrong, or whatever, there is somebody that’s going to - boom - come right in your ear and say, you know, ‘Woah, don’t say that, say it like this…’ Or, ‘Do something like that.’ So, all I know is that, basically, the first time I heard from Vince all night long was – bang - all of sudden right at the end of the show, I could hear the mic cut in and all of a sudden, there was Vince and he said, ‘You guys had an awesome show tonight. Everyone was awesome. Thank you very much.’” [H/T PW Insider for providing the quotes]

McMahon has been known to give commentators instructions during shows, so it is somewhat surprising that Lawler did not have any communication with his boss throughout the episode.
What can we expect on the next episode of RAW?
With so much focus on RAW, NXT and SmackDown this week, only four matches have been announced for Sunday’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, including Seth Rollins vs. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (Universal Championship) and Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks (RAW Women’s Championship).
Fans will have to wait until the PPV has finished to get a better idea of what to expect on RAW, but it is safe to assume that the episode will feature all the fallout from the two RAW Hell In A Cell matches, as well as some significant developments in the Team Hulk Hogan vs. Team Ric Flair and Bobby Lashley & Lana storylines.
It has also been revealed that WWE is offering heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury a live microphone on the show following his confrontation with Braun Strowman on SmackDown.
