Jim Ross has announced, via his official Twitter account, that he will be on commentary duty for the WWE U.K. Championship match between Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne at this Saturday’s NXT Takeover: Chicago.

It was recently revealed that a 90-minute ‘United Kingdom Championship’ special show will air on the WWE Network this Friday and will be called by legendary announcer alongside colour commentator, Nigel McGuinness.

The upcoming UK show and Championship match are being used to preview an imminent weekly show that will be airing on the WWE Network, emanating from the United Kingdom.
It is unknown whether JR will be the regular announcer for WWE’s British programming, but he has announced that he will be calling the Bate vs. Dunne bout at this Saturday’s NXT Takeover event.

The WWE Hall of Famer broke the news on his Twitter account on Monday evening.
Legendary British wrestler, Nigel McGuinness, who called the UK Championship tournament alongside Michael Cole before becoming a regular announcer on NXT’s weekly show, replacing Corey Graves, will join JR at Takeover: Chicago to call the Championship match.
What’s next?
The combination of McGuinness and Jim Ross is certainly an interesting one and is sure to add some intrigue to the UK Championship coverage for the WWE Universe, particularly WWE’s British fanbase.
The exposure that the UK Championship will receive this weekend will hopefully create some buzz for when the weekly British show does eventually debut on the WWE Network.
As for Ross, he has announced that WWE has already booked him for a number of future events which will be revealed as and when necessary. Therefore, the WWE Universe can get used to hearing more of JR’s unmistakeable voice in the coming months.

The fact that JR and WWE have reconciled their working relationship can only be seen as a positive. He is widely considered the greatest wrestling announcer of all time and he will add something special to whichever future bouts he calls in the company.
