What's the story?

According to the reports in Deadline, John Cena is will star in another huge movie role. The movie is said to be an untitled buddy cop movie, where he will be starring opposite Kumail Nanijani.

In case you didn't know....

John Cena lost to Roman Reigns at Raw's No Mercy pay-per-view. It was obvious after the pay-per-view match that he was going to take a hiatus from wrestling for his filming commitments.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

It was widely known that Cena is to star in the upcoming Transformers Bumblebee movie. He is reportedly also being considered for a role in DC's Shazam.

On the Raw Talk show, he implied that he would appear less and less in WWE and would become a true part-timer.

The heart of the matter

Cena is set to star in an untitled Buddy-Cop movie opposite Kumail Nanijani of Big Sick and Silicon Valley fame. The movie is to be directed by the Ruben Fleischer, known for having previously directed Zombieland. More details about the film are yet to be revealed.

The fact that Cena is set to star in yet another big movie is not so good news for fans who were hoping for his quick return to WWE. Following in the footsteps of other wrestlers who made it big in Hollywood, such as Rock and recently Dave Bautista, Cena is starting to make quite a name for himself in the Hollywood scene.

It is likely that with every passing day Cena will become less regular in WWE, and appear only as for a special attraction.

What's next?

For now, Cena is advertised to appear in WWE's last Big Four pay-per-view of the year at Survivor Series. The card is subject to change, however, and Cena may end up not being able to appear with all these filming commitments.

Author's take

John Cena will most likely be extremely successful in Hollywood, with the skills that he developed over the years in WWE. Cena is an excellent talker and knows how to improvise as well, meaning that it suits him perfectly.

His career might not be as successful as that of the Rock but he will possibly do really well for himself in the film industry.

Cena taking time off is also good for the rest of the WWE roster, as they have more space to develop themselves. While there may not be one top superstar at the moment despite WWE pushing Roman Reigns for the spot, this will promote healthy competition among the roster.
