WWE News: John Cena talks about starring in a movie opposite Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

16-time WWE Champion John Cena recently talked to Comicbook.com, where he talked about the prospect of starring in a movie with his former WWE Co-star, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

While Dwayne Johnson has made his mark on Hollywood already and has achieved success, Cena is still trying to find his own place in Hollywood with his most recent role being in Bumblebee.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and John Cena had one of the best feuds in recent memory when they faced each other in back-to-back WrestleMania matches. The two of them made a huge mark with their feud on the WWE Universe, with the audience buying into the hype surrounding their rivalry.

In 2002, The Rock started his Hollywood career and has since then one of the biggest stars on the silver screen. John Cena recently took a step back from his WWE role, transitioning to part-time, focusing more on building his Hollywood career. With successful roles in Ferdinand, Daddy's Home 2, and Bumblebee, Cena has become a force to reckon with in Hollywood as well.

The heart of the matter

According to Cena, him starring in a movie opposite Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is something the fans want to see. While talking to Comicbook.com, he reminded them how the fans had bought into him facing the Rock at WrestleMania, and how the two starring in a movie together would do wonders.

"It certainly is something that they wanted to see in a WWE venue and I think that's a good litmus test about the pulse of pop culture. Dwayne's such a larger than life star, he truly is in his own league, but people were interested in us in that sort of universe. I feel that they would be interested in us on the big screen, as well."

Cena and The Rock might have starred opposite each other if things had gone well for either of them, but it did not work out. The Rock was supposed to be a part of Shazam before he left the project. Cena was also considered for the role of the superhero, but unfortunately, he did not get the part.

What's next?

John Cena has a number of movies coming up in the future, including The Voyage of Dr Dolittle. It remains to be seen if he gets a role opposite The Rock, but if he does, that would be quite something to see.
