What’s the story?
In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, John Cena spoke about his recent mixed tag team feud and whether or not the storyline got “too real” for him to enjoy. The storyline concluded with Cena and Nikki Bella defeating The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33.
In case you didn’t know....
Cena has been away from the world of WWE for a few weeks now, once again going on an extended hiatus to focus on other projects. That, ironically, has been a key component of a lot of his feuds over the last twelve months, with Miz being one of the many superstars to point out the fact that Mr Hustle Loyalty & Respect has turned into the part timer that he never wanted to be.
The heart of the matter
The following quote comes from an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated.
“I can’t believe I have hair left. At times, it’s trying to have someone throw your real life out there. Everybody comes at me, so I’m used to it, but it’s a first for Nicole. They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and I can attest to that.
I’ve had to be on the receiving end of some upset nights, but I cannot stress to you enough how it shows her character and resolve. I tell everyone who will listen, Nicole is the strongest, most inspiring person I’ve ever met. That’s why I love her.”
What’s next?
It’s a case of wait and see when it comes to Cena returning to the ring, meanwhile, Nikki Bella will probably be out of action for a longer amount of time due to recurring problems with her neck. The duo will likely continue to make appearances in the public eye in order to help promote WWE as a brand even further.
Author’s take
It’s great to see John speak so openly about the woman he loves, and we feel inclined to believe him when it comes to some of the things he’s saying. Whilst many feel as if their relationship is manufactured, some of their scenes together on Total Divas have proven otherwise – at least in our eyes.
