WWE News: Johnny Gargano reveals what he whispered to Tommaso Ciampa on Takeover stage

What's the story?

Johnny Gargano won the NXT Championship last night at Takeover: New York following the win over Adam Cole. Johnny Wrestling then celebrated with Tommaso Ciampa and Candice LeRae on stage where he seemed to whisper something to the former Champion.

In case you didn't know...

Tommaso Ciampa was forced to relinquish his NXT Championship when it was made apparent that he needed neck surgery. Ciampa and Gargano were originally scheduled to have their final showdown at Takeover this past weekend, but obviously, this was altered when he was forced to go under the knife.

Ciampa was still in attendance last night to watch the match that was created in his absence since he was unable to battle Gargano and surprisingly after the attack that took place in Chicago back in 2017, the two former friends are back on the same page.

The heart of the matter

Gargano picked up the victory last night before he made his way up the entrance ramp and was greeted by his wife Candice LeRae and former Champion Tommaso Ciampa. Gargano then whispered something to the former Champion, which he later went on to reveal following the show.

“I told Tommaso on stage that I was gonna take care of Goldy for him for a little bit."

What's next?

The era of Johnny Wrestling has finally begun in NXT and it will be interesting to see who challenges him for the NXT Championship in the near future. It's unclear whether or not Ciampa will be promoted to the main roster following his rehab or if he will want a rematch for the title he never lost.
