What's the story?
The WWE Cruiserweight Champion and former two-time US Champion Kalisto did an interview with NBC Chicago and spoke about his life, growing up in the city.
During the interview, Kalisto mentioned that the first wrestling match he ever saw and how it instantly made him want to become a WWE Superstar.
In case you didn't know...
On the October 9th, 2017 edition of RAW, Kalisto became the WWE Cruiserweight Champion when he defeated Enzo Amore in a Lumberjack match just a week after joining the 205 Live division.
The match was the main event of Raw, a big achievement for the Cruiserweights. Kalisto has been with WWE since 2013.
The heart of the matter
When Kalisto was discussing his childhood in Chicago with NBC Chicago, he reminisced about the first WWE bout he ever watched, which was The Undertaker vs. the late Yokozuna.
That match, which took place during 1994, made Kalisto "feel like" he was going to "be in the ring" in the future.
Like many of us wrestling fans, it was feeling he could not explain.
It was then that Kalisto knew he wanted to become a WWE Superstar, and credit where credit is due, he is not only a WWE Superstar, he is WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
What's next?
Kalisto will defend his Cruiserweight title against Enzo Amore this Sunday at the WWE TLC PPV.
Author's take
Hearing that Kalisto was a WWE fan from a young age and his passion for pro wrestling makes me respect the guy a lot. We need more WWE Superstars who are in the business because they love it, not because they love the money.
