WWE News: Lana comments on facing backstage heat

What's the story?

WWE Superstar Lana recently commented on the rumours about her being involved in backstage heat and apparent change in storylines as its consequence.

During an interview on with Baby Huey & Bimbo Jimbo, she addressed her engagement with Rusev and the entire controversy it sparked.

In case you didn't know...

Back in 2015, WWE were running a storyline that presented Lana and Dolph Ziggler as a couple. However, in October, she posted a photo on Instagram wearing a ring and confirmed her engagement with Rusev. The couple then got married in 2016.

However, soon after her engagement was official, her segment with Ziggler was abruptly stopped. This led to the reports suggesting that Lana is facing nuclear heat backstage owing to her engagement.

The heart of the matter

In her recent interview, Lana spoke about the entire series of events that followed after the rumours of her off-screen feud started doing rounds. She stated that it was Mr Vince McMahon's decision to drop that storyline and had absolutely nothing to do with the events of her personal life.

The truth was that Vince McMahon just decided to go a different route, and that’s just what it was. Rusev and I were trending for like three days straight “Rusev and Lana are engaged”. He just made the decision at that time he goes ok I want to bring them back together.

She laughed off at the reports which claimed that Lana is bearing the consequences of her engagement with her husband, Rusev. She stated that at that time she would only look at the rumours and think that people are going to talk about others anyway. Hence, she decided to pay no heed to the upsetting comments made in major publications.

Se also spoke about bringing Rusev to the latest episode of Total Divas and stated that he himself wanted to be there and support her.

He definitely wanted to do it. He fully supports me, and so he was excited to do it. He’s a character. He’s so funny.

Whats next?

The Total Divas episode featuring Lana and Rusev will roll out next week. It will be interesting to see the chemistry that the couple shares and how their journey has been so far amidst all the ups and downs.

The wrestlers do not get to decide the direction in which their storyline will be headed. If it's not appealing to the creatives and the authority, chances are that even major storylines will meet an abrupt end.

We are glad to know that Lana was not involved in any backstage heat as suggested by many reports. We will look forward to the couple's appearance on Total Divas to know more about their time together.
