What’s the story?
In an interview with Cheddar, Lana opened up on a myriad of topics.
Most prominently, Lana revealed her favorite moment in her WWE career thus far.
In case you didn’t know…
Lana, whose real name is Catherine Joy Perry, has performed for the WWE since 2013.
The 32-year-old Total Divas star started her career in WWE as the on-screen manager of her now real life husband, Rusev. However, she transitioned from the role of a valet to that of an active in-ring competitor last year.
The heart of the matter
Lana has been considerably vocal about her aspirations to be a top-tier in-ring competitor in the WWE Women’s Division, and has previously competed for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on multiple occasions.
In the interview, ‘The Ravishing Russian’ revealed her favorite moment in WWE.
"My favorite moment in WWE was definitely that moment (the Women’s Royal Rumble)."
She went to add that previously, a Women's Royal Rumble match seemed almost impossible to her.
"This week of being in the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble, we thought--at times--that would never happen and seemed impossible. To be able to achieve something that we thought was impossible really shows the sky is the limit."
What’s next?
Lana presently competes on the WWE’s SmackDown brand. She serves as an ally to fellow superstar Tamina—with both of them competing in several matches every week.
Author’s take
Honestly speaking, considering how well Lana has handled the severe fan-backlash, from the hardcore professional wrestling community in particular, over her being accorded several shots at the SmackDown Women’s Championship, one has to admire the Ravishing Russian’s resilience and drive to succeed.
Lana has stated in a few interviews last year that her in-ring wrestling aspirations are not a ruse, and she is in fact, very serious about improving as a wrestler.
Besides, it’s awesome to see Lana speak about the historic Women’s Royal Rumble match, especially given how passionate she is about the business.
