Alberto Del Rio returned to WWE during the Hell In a Cell PPV last year with the dreams of receiving a main event push as well as Paul Heyman being his manager.

However, his dreams soon faded away and after 2 months of his initial return, the former WWE Champion found himself struggling in the mid cards of WWE with the stable known as League of Nations.

The following months also didn't bring anything new for his on-screen persona and as we noted before, after being suspended for 30 days for his first violation of the company's wellness policy in August 2016, the Mexican star has made his mood for not returning to WWE at all.

Although it looks like the fans will still have to wait for at least a month before they can see the former World Champion in action again outside of the WWE dungeon.

As per the reports from wrestlingInc.com, Del Rio had given his final notice to the company through his lawyer in late June that he will be opting out 60 days ago then originally supposed , prior to being suspended.

As the site noted, this will mean that Del Rio will be free to wrestle anywhere in the United States and Imminently in Mexico and Abroad too after the month of September ends.

Interestingly, this also means that officials still decide to suspend Del Rio despite knowing that he had already made his mind to leave the company.

Alberto Del Rio signed a contract with WWE back in 2010 and made his on-screen debut during the month of June in the same year.

During his 4 years long run with the company, he was treated as a main event star and went on to become both WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion while also winning the Royal Rumble and Money In The bank.

However, the year 2014 didn't go as planned by WWE and after being part of several mid card feuds Del Rio was fired from the company in August for slapping an employee who made a racist joke.

After spending a year on the independent circuit while working for promotions such as Lucha Underground, Del Rio made his surprise return to the company in October 2015 during the Hell in a Cell PPV where he defeated John Cena clean to become the new United States Champion.

WWE reportedly brought him back because they were feeling the need of a Mexican star in their roster to appeal to the local audience and he was initially promised a main event push upon his return.

However, the promises made to the Royal Rumble winner were not fulfilled which allegedly made him frustrated and he decided to leave the company once again.
