What’s the story?
The Manhattan Center, site of the first edition of RAW, will be one of two venues hosting the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW. The pre-sale tickets for the event sold out in about a minute according to a report published by PWInsider.
In case you didn’t know...
The 25th Anniversary of Raw will emanate from the Manhattan Center and the Barclays Center on January 22nd, 2018 and will feature both wrestlers from Raw and SmackDown Live.
The WWE has also promised the appearance of legends including Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, and also a possible appearance from The Undertaker.
The heart of the matter
The Manhattan Center is a small venue and with New York being one of WWE’s best markets, it was expected that the venue would sell out,= especially considering how well WWE fares at the much bigger Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The history of WWE and the Manhattan Center dates back to the beginning of Monday Night Raw when they would alternate between taped and live shows from 1993 until 1997.
Another factor that may have contributed to the quick sale could be the appearance of WWE legends, especially The Undertaker.
The Dead Man was last seen at WrestleMania 33 when he was defeated and seemingly retired by Roman Reigns. There have been rumors regarding his return, but the 25th Anniversary is the first appearance advertised by WWE.
What’s next?
The 25th Anniversary of Raw will air on January 22 2018, and will be the final Raw before the 2018 Royal Rumble.
The pre-sale tickets were sold out today, but the ticket sales to the general public will begin on Nov. 3.
Author’s take
It goes without saying that the WWE are pulling out all the stops to get fans hyped for the 25th anniversary. The fans seemed to be excited for a Raw that’s far from the norm.
