WWE News: Matt Hardy retweets and responds to epic fan sign on SmackDown

“Broken” Matt Hardy responded to an image of a fan’s awesome sign

What’s the story?

As we inch closer and closer to WrestleMania 33, the WWE would have you believe that the whole world is watching their programming in preparation for the Showcase of the Immortals. It would seem that it isn’t so far-fetched, as Matt Hardy retweeted and responded to a fan’s sign that was seen on Smackdown! Live tonight.

In case you didn’t know...

The Hardys and Impact Wrestling have gone through quite the real-life drama since February of this year. The Hardys left the company because they felt disrespected during their contract negotiations. The Broken brothers were still TNA Tag Team Champions when they decided to leave TNA, and it’s widely believed that they never returned the belts to Impact Wrestling.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

The Hardys went to Ring of Honor and took the ROH Tag Team Championships from the Young Bucks in a massive surprise. At the Hardys’ next scheduled ROH appearance, Impact Wrestling sent cease-and-desist letters to the Hardys, Ring of Honor, and several cable providers that were scheduled to broadcast the pay-per-view event.

The letters threatened legal action if the brothers used the“Broken,” gimmick, as Impact claimed that the gimmick was their intellectual property.

The two sides are now involved in a full-on legal battle over the use of the gimmick. The good part is the PWInsider has confirmed that the Hardys returning to WWE is a done deal, and apart from some scheduling issues, the WWE is all set to be broken.

The heart of the matter

During the contract signing segment between AJ Styles and Shane McMahon tonight on Smackdown, a sign questioning the whereabouts of Matt was seen and tweeted out. Matt Hardy took the time to respond to the tweet in a way only he can:

What’s next?

Matt and Jeff will defend the ROH Tag Team Championships against the Young Bucks at ROH Supercard of Honor this weekend in a Ladder Match. It is believed that the brothers are headed for the WWE imminently.

Author’s take

It feels like the Hardys can’t show up on WWE television soon enough at this point. They are even rumoured to be at WrestleMania in the RAW Tag Team title match. I’m looking forward to it.
