What's the story?
Matt Hardy and his brother Jeff have been using their traditional Hardy Boyz entrance music ever since they returned to WWE back at WrestleMania 33, but since Hardy has unveiled his 'Woken' character, it seems that he needed new music to go along with this gimmick change.
In case you didn't know...
Matt Hardy has been embroiled in a rivalry with Bray Wyatt over the past few weeks, ever since he was left adrift on the mid-card since Jeff Hardy was injured a few months ago and required surgery that could keep him out of action for a number of months.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Matt couldn't wait on the sidelines for his brother to return, so it seems that WWE has finally given the former Impact Wrestling star the green light to go ahead with his new "Woken" character.
Hardy made his "Broken" gimmick famous all over the world when he was in TNA and it seems that after a legal battle with Impact Wrestling over the rights to use the character in WWE, this was a much better option.
The heart of the matter
Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt have had a number of promo-offs over the past few weeks, but Hardy is yet to step in the ring as this character on Monday Night Raw. Hardy did make his way to the ring as part of tonight's live event at Madison Square Garden, where he debuted a new theme that is similar to his original TNA entrance music.
It is reported that Matt Hardy now owns the rights to his "Broken" gimmick but will continue to be called "Woken" Matt Hardy in WWE so that the company can create their own trademark and then use it for merchandise.
What's next?
The feud between Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt looks set to continue for the next few months and could become one of the strangest feuds that the company has ever created.
The new music shows that WWE obviously has some big plans for Hardy to continue on a singles run whilst regardless of whether his brother is ready to return or not.
Authors take
It was never going to make sense for Hardy to come out to The Hardy Boyz music when he was "Woken" so he needed new music, it seems that WWE made the right choice when it comes to his new theme and it will be interesting to see the next steps that this feud takes now leading up to The Royal Rumble.
