WWE News: Mike Knox turns down WWE return offer

Kane with Mike Knox

WWE has been on a re-signing spree of sorts as the company has reached out to many former stars for a return amid the brand split. The latest name to have been approached by the WWE is the 38-year-old veteran, Mike Knox.

Mike Knox’s previous WWE run lasted from 2005 to 2010 and fast forward to 2016, the opportunity to return came knocking on his door. Knox took to his Twitter handle to disclose the talks that went down between him and Mike Carrano, the Vice President of Talent Relations of the WWE. Carrano offered Knox a full-time contract to wrestle under the RAW brand, but he politely turned it down.

The reason he specified was the physical incapability of putting in the goods on a full-time basis and added that as of this moment, he recognizes himself as semi-retired from pro-wrestling. In spite of the uncertainty surrounding his health, Knox is seen on the independent scene from time to time. The former member of Aces and Eights put out this statement and didn’t miss out the opportunity of having a jibe at TNA:

“As everybody knows, I am a former WWE and TNA Superstar. As everybody also knows, WWE has been attempting to reach out to former WWE stars to help build the RAW and Smackdown Live dynasty. Recently, I was approached by a man named Mark Carrano. He offered me a full-time deal to return to the RAW brand. I kindly declined. I’m 38 years old, my body isn’t capable of being a full-time WWE wrestler anymore like it was back in 2006, 10 years ago. I like the idea of being on the independent scene, mainly because I get to pick the dates I want to work. After recent concussion issues, I was advised to retire. I said no. 2 months later, I made a remarkable recovery and was cleared to compete. Although, I just didn’t feel as good as I used to when I wrestled full time. Since February 2016, I have been semi-retired. If WWE decides to reconsider and offer me a part-time deal, I’d gladly accept it. I have no bad blood with WWE, I just can’t physically compete full-time anymore. As far as a TNA return goes, consider it off the table. At least WWE knows how to pay their talents on time, just saying…”

Knox was released by the WWE in 2010, after being a part of the RAW roster in 2008 and 2009. He jumped ship to TNA in 2013 and continued for a year before going back to the indies.
