This week's SmackDown revolved around the build-up for the WWE Championship match at the Elimination Chamber PPV inside the Elimination Chamber. Following the match, the other competitors in the Elimination Chamber match - Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and Mustafa Ali, made their way to the ring, as an all-out brawl ensued.
The heart of the matter
Earlier in the night, Mustafa Ali and Randy Orton faced off in an entertaining singles match, which was eventually won by the latter after he landed an RKO from the top rope.
In the match, Ali suffered an injury to his left eye as Orton's stomp on Ali's face caught him badly, which resulted in a bruised eye.
But Ali soldiered on in the match, putting on a stellar performance once again, but narrowly missing out on the win. Ali returned to the ring at the end of the night when he took out Joe and Orton following the Daniel Bryan-Jeff Hardy match.
What's next?
It remains to be seen if this injury is a serious one to Ali, but from what we've seen, it is just a bruise that will likely heal by next week's SmackDown.
Ali will be a part of the Elimination Chamber match, which will take place on February 17, 2019 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
