What's the story?
At this evening's 205 Live taping, a new challenger for Neville's WWE Cruiserweight Championship will be decided in a Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match. The Brian Kendrick, Cedric Alexander, Gran Metalik, Enzo Amore and Tony Nese will do battle in the bout, with the winner going on to face the King of the Cruiserweights at No Mercy.
In case you didn't know
Ever since returning to WWE at the Roadblock: End of the Line at the end of 2016, Neville has been an utterly dominant force in the cruiserweight division. The King of the Cruiserweights won the championship at the 2017 Royal Rumble, and proceeded to lay waste to everyone in front of him.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
Akira Tozawa briefly interrupted Neville's reign prior to SummerSlam, but The Man That Gravity Forgot is now back on top again. He has defeated pretty much everyone in the cruiserweight division - a new challenger is needed.
The heart of the matter
Enzo, Kendrick, Alexander, Metalik and Nese will do battle on 205 Live to decide a new number one contender to Neville's championship. The Fatal 5-Way will also be an elimination match, meaning the winner will have truly deserved their shot at the Geordie's championship.
Of the five, only Kendrick has experienced title success in WWE. Enzo Amore only recently joined the division, but has clearly been positioned as the major star in the two weeks he has been with the junior heavyweights. Tony Nese has long been an enhancement talent in the division, with this being his first chance to shine.
Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik are two of WWE's most under-utilised talents, the latter in particular. After being two of the standouts of the 2016 WWE Cruiserweight Classic, injuries and neglect have stifled the momentum of two of the most talented performers on the roster.
What's next?
The Fatal 5-Way will take place on 205 Live this evening, with the winner going on to challenge Neville at WWE No Mercy in less than three weeks. Enzo Amore is the favourite going in, as the Realest Guy in the Room has been consistently picking up the wins during his two weeks in the division.
Gran Metalik is also yet to get a shot at the Neville's championship, and has begun to be featured a little more recently. Kendrick, Alexander and Nese are almost certainly outsiders for the win.
Author's take
Enzo is going to win, isn't he? The Michael Jordan of Jargon has given the cruiserweight division an undeniable boost since joining, but the quality of Neville's championship matches is about to drastically go down. Here's hoping Gran Metalik somehow pulls out the win.
