What’s the story?

The Bella Twins have ingrained themselves in the WWE Universe since being signed in 2007. Many consider them a crucial part of the WWE Women's Revolution's beginnings but they had to take a hiatus caused by marriages and injuries.

Nikki Bella recently revealed her plans for a return alongside Brie and also commented about Daniel Bryan's passion to return as well.

The Background

Daniel Bryan was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time in many people's opinion. But he had to retire from in-ring competition in 2016 at 34 years of age. He still loves the business and his passion to make an in-ring return resulted in consulting many doctors for second and third opinions.

Nikki Bella had to take a break from the ring due to injury and her sister Brie took some time off to marry Daniel Bryan and have their daughter, Birdie Joe. But the ring is apparently calling all three of them back and it looks like they'll answer.

The heart of the matter

Daniel Bryan received word from some doctors saying he can return with the proper treatment but WWE doctors have yet to sign off on him. The awful fact is that due to WWE's history concerning brain injuries, Bryan may never be approved to wrestle again in WWE.

But that won't stop him from trying, nor will it deter him from going elsewhere when his contract is up with WWE as long as he can find a doctor who will clear him to compete. As Nikki Bella commented to Inside The Ropes.

"The one thing that I've realized about Bryan because I've spent so much time with him, is that he eats, breathes, lives wrestling. He's been training with Brie in the ring because Brie really wants to make a return, and seeing him he's an amazing coach, but in his heart he wants to compete. He wants to be in the ring."

Nikki Bella also commented on her injury and said her surgeon doesn't want her coming back at all. But she's dead set on making a return to action as soon as she's healed up enough to do so. However, she won't be able to work a full-time schedule with WWE ever again.

"I can't ever be full-time again, and we kind of saw that when I came back last SummerSlam and I went full-time into WrestleMania and I ended up getting injured partially two weeks before that. It's very tough on my body having a full-time schedule, unfortunately."

When Nikki does make her return to action, she made it very clear she wants her sister Brie by her side. Brie has been training in the ring with Daniel Bryan and revealed she is looking at a return timetable sometime in 2018.

What's next?

Sometimes we get tired of hearing "we'll just have to wait and see" because we want to know what will happen next.

Both Bella Twins have commented saying they are shooting for a 2018 return to the ring and Daniel Bryan's contract might be up around that time so he can explore other opportunities in pro wrestling where he will be allowed to actually wrestle.

But only time will tell how this situation will pan out because you never know what could happen along the way. But Daniel Bryan and The Bella Twins all seem pretty certain they'll be lacing up their wrestling boots again sometime next year.

Author's Take

If Nikki Bella and Daniel Bryan are able to come back to the ring, it will make them very happy to be doing what they love to do. Fans will also love having them back and it could result in some amazing moments. But I just hope whatever they decide to do in the future their bodies will be ready for a return to action.

As much as we love watching them entertain us we also really care about the real people behind the inspirational characters they portray on television. But it might be true that the actual people behind their brave on-screen personas could be more inspiring in real life.
