What's the story?
Heyman has advocated or managed 5 champions in WWE. One of them is CM Punk, a man who has focused all his energy on dominating his opponents inside the octagon.
Paul Heyman caught up with Digital Spy and revealed what it would take for Punk to return to sports entertainment again. We thank Wrestling Inc. for the transcript.
In case you didn't know...
CM Punk has focused on building a career in the UFC, ever since he walked away from WWE. Despite the fact that he lost to Mickey Gall in his first effort, Punk is determined to earn his stripes within the octagon.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
As for Paul Heyman, he remains associated with WWE, primarily as the advocate for The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar. He is an integral part of the current Universal Championship storyline, between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
The heart of the matter
According to Heyman, all of Punk's energy is focused on UFC and there's virtually nothing that can bring him back to WWE:
I don't think Phil Brooks thinks about WWE at all anymore. I would hope that he doesn't. I would hope that he is of the focused mindset in propelling himself into the ranks of UFC. I don't think it's a matter of positioning or money or spotlight anymore.
Heyman would continue by saying that it would be counterproductive for Punk to think about anything but UFC:
I think it's a matter of his dream is to become a successful UFC fighter and he doesn't even have a thought regarding WWE, at least I would hope that he doesn't. Because I don't know how it would be considered productive for him to do so.
What's next?
While Punk may be focused on the UFC for now, the future is anyone's guess. Many people who said they would never step into WWE again did return. Punk's return is well within the realm of possibility.
Author's take
The WWE roster is far too stacked right now. The company's focus should be on building existing stars instead of bringing back former superstars.
As for Punk, he will return when he believes it's time.
