The Rock and Brock Lesnar faced off for the first time at Summerslam 2002 for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This was only Lesnar’s fourth month in WWE, and he defeated The Great One at Madison Square Garden to become the youngest WWE Champion in history, a record that has not been broken since (Randy Orton was the youngest World Heavyweight Champion, not to be mistaken).
A year or more ago, The Rock revealed that they were, in fact, planning on having The Rock vs Brock 2 at Wrestlemania 30. However, clearly things fell apart, and Lesnar ended up facing The Undertaker, breaking the mythical streak and making a mark in history forever.
It was rumored a month ago that WWE are going all out to make The Rock vs Brock 2 happen at next year’s Wrestlemania, which takes place in The Rock’s home state of Florida. It was said that the original plan for the Wrestlemania 32 main event was The Rock vs Triple H. Many fans rejected that idea believing that two part-timers in their 40s should not be main eventing Wrestlemania. Triple H main evented Wrestlemania anyway, putting over Roman Reigns in the World Championship match.

The Sun reported that Paul Heyman had specific words when Lesnar was asked if he was ready to take on The Rock at Wrestlemania 33:
“Notice how The Rock picks fights with Bray Wyatt, or fights with Rusev and John Cena? Notice how The Rock doesn’t pick a fight with Brock Lesnar? Is Brock Lesnar ready for The Rock? Is The Rock ready for Brock?”
If the match does happen, it will interesting to see if it will be the main event or not. It could be argued that John Cena vs The Undertaker would be the rightful main event of Wrestlemania 33 as it is more than confirmed to be Undertaker’s swan song before he winds up his legendary career.
Either way, The Rock vs Brock 2 would undoubtedly be a blockbuster draw. It is questionable whether it would be a bigger draw than John Cena vs The Rock which took place at Wrestlemania 28. One of the biggest drawing points of that match was that the entire build-up took place over the course of a full year.
