It took just about a day for the buzz to mushroom that former TNA stars Bobby Roode and Eric Young’s departure from the company might be WWE related. This comes from the suspected origination of none other than Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Though rumours, according to wrestlinginc.com, not many would be shell-shocked if his claim proved prophetic.
Other reports however, including one from Pro Wrestling Insider claim that the twelve-year veterans’ requests for increased remuneration weren’t met and this was the impetus behind their sudden departure. This is equally plausible considering TNA’s current financial woes.
Eleven-time champions in TNA, both Roode and Young debuted in the company together and unfortunately, asked for the release in unison. The 39-year-old Roode said this in farewell: “To the guys and girls I got to work with for the past 12 years, Impact Wrestling, the office and everyone associated with me getting to live this dream, I say thank you. It is time for me to move on to the next chapter in my life. This has been amazing.”
Eric Young bid adieu to TNA after having said this: “Thank you. Thank you to everyone who watched me for the past 12 years. Thank you to Impact Wrestling. I wish everyone here nothing but the best going forward.”
