The 30th Annual Survivor Series pitted Team Raw against Team Smackdown in 5 on 5 combat, across all three divisions (male, female and tag team). The men’s contest was a power packed affair, and went on for almost an hour, ultimately culminating with the newfound alliance of Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton standing tall.
However, many fans were puzzled about Randy Orton’s brand new ring gear- his orange bracelet. When quizzed about the same, Orton had this to say in a tweet:
He followed up this tweet with yet another one that just said-
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
As Leukemia claims many lives across the world; many show their support for those fighting the disease by donning an orange bracelet. It is symbolic of strength and solidarity. It is also an assurance to those afflicted with the same, that they are not fighting alone.
It is estimated that every 3 minutes, someone in the US is diagnosed with Leukemia or Blood Cancer. Over 300, 000 Americans are currently living with Leukemia.
Randy Orton’s recent heel turn raised many eyebrows, and one believed that his newly forged alliance with the Wyatts would not last long. However, he surprised the audience at Survivor Series by taking a spear intended for Bray. He also delivered a picture perfect mid-air RKO to Seth Rollins, recreating their magic from Wrestlemania 31.
However, what caught everyone’s attention was Randy Orton breaking character to console Shane McMahon’s sons when it seemed like he was genuinely hurt after a Roman Reigns spear. A father himself, Orton revealed his true caring self.
Despite the tragedy in his family, Orton has had cause to celebrate this week. Randy and his wife welcomed a new baby girl into the world- Brooklyn Rose Orton. For the very same reason, despite the major push for The Wyatt family, Orton missed Smackdown.
We certainly wish TJ all the best in his fight against Leukemia and hope he has a very speedy recovery soon.
