What’s the story?
WWE’s weekly television show Monday Night Raw underwent some changes to its program today. The Red Brand has reportedly altered its existing logo and theme in this week's episode.
In case you didn’t know…
Raw began its journey at the Manhattan Center in New York on 22nd January 1993. Currently, it prides itself on being the longest-running weekly show and over 1000 episodes have been aired.
Last Week, Raw celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Manhattan Center and Barclays Center in New York. Over the years, the Red Brand has undergone a few set and theme changes during the era transition.
In 2016, WWE transitioned to the 'New Era' after 'The Authority' was disbanded and they also reintroduced the brand split, with SmackDown becoming a live show rather than being pre-recorded. This transition also introduced new sets and the themes for both the brands.
The heart of the matter
After hosting the Royal Rumble at the Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, the WWE aired this week's Raw from the same venue. Following the 25th anniversary, the company has brought some significant changes to the sets of its flagship show.
As per the latest episode, the Red Brand has changed its logo design and theme. The titantron and the stage displayed a new Raw logo with white background. Previously, the logo design had a black background.
It is to be noted that the superstar name bar and the match preview window also sported this new logo.
What’s next?
As of this writing, the real reason behind the set alteration is unknown. Few speculated that it is just a sign which indicates that the show is heading towards a new dimension.
Author’s take
To be honest Raw’s new logo design looks awkward and it doesn't feast the eyes. Many fans have already thrown shots at the new design and expressed their concerns, so the WWE should reconsider its decision and bring the old design back.
