What’s the story?
The New Day were wearing very specific outfits at WrestleMania 33. While bringing a decked out ice cream cart down the long ramp, Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kofi were dressed as three of the classes from Final Fantasy XIV.
In case you didn’t know...
This isn’t the first WrestleMania where The New Day decided to let their nerd flag fly. At WrestleMania 32, coming out of a giant box of Booty-O’s like toys at the bottom of the box, the New Day were dressed as Sayains from Dragon Ball Z. They’ve been known to wear, not only outfits but merchandise of other things unrelated to the WWE. The boys have been spotted with Bullet Club, specifically, Elite shirts. They’ve even come to the ring wearing UpUpDownDown gear, Xavier Woods’ YouTube Gaming Channel.

The heart of the matter
This year’s WrestleMania was sponsored by Final Fantasy XIV, which is releasing its second instalment, Stormblood. Along with promoting the game throughout the Kickoff and Main Show, Square Enix came together with WWE to create a memorable entrance for the New Day.

At the Showcase of the Immortals, Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E frolicked down the ring sporting Final Fantasy XIV gear. Kofi, dressed as a Red Mage, Big E as a Samurai, and Xavier as a monk. Even Moogles, a sort of mascot character for the gaming franchise, made an appearance with the former tag champions. Kofi also had a Moogle on his shoulder, and Xavier kept one on Franchesca 2. Even the ice cream cart they had been toting around for weeks was covered in Moogles, Chocobos, and other FFXIV stickers.

Author’s take
There is not a team more marketable than the New Day. The only way this might have helped sell more copies of the game would be if John Cena came down to the ring dressed as Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. I would not be surprised at all if the New Day had a similar getup for SummerSlam.
