What's the story?
Ric Flair is an icon, but his recent health scare sent the entirety of the WWE Universe into panic mode. We're glad to report that he's doing much better now, and he's well on the road to recovery.
In an interview with Busted Open Radio, The Nature Boy revealed that he lost 43 pounds. during his recent health scare. We thank Wrestling Inc. for the transcript.
In case you didn't know...
Flair's recent health problems stemmed from drinking and even though the doctors gave him a 20% chance of survival, The Nature Boy made it through. He has since then stopped his drinking habit and is rehabbing to get back to full health again.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
He was hospitalized for a month because of an intestinal blockage, and thankfully the thoughts and prayers of the WWE Universe, helped him sail through to safety.
The heart of the matter
Flair revealed how much weight he lost during this trying period:
When I got out I only weighed 206 pounds, I lost 43 pounds. I couldn't walk, I couldn't even twist the top off a Gatorade bottle. I could stand on my legs, but I couldn't walk, so I had to go to a rehab place for 20 days of physical rehab where they make you walk with a walker and then a cane and then you learn to walk by yourself.
Thankfully Flair is returning to full health and should be styling and profiling very soon:
I'm back, I feel good, I weigh 220 now. Everything is normal, I have to go to the doctor every other week.
Keep your hands off them drinks for a while, Mr Flair.
What's next?
Flair says that he cannot exercise now, and that's been a difficult transition. He expects to lift weights again in a month.
Author's take
Ric Flair is the reason I even became a fan of sports entertainment, to begin with. Therefore, the only advice I can give him is to be as un-Ric Flair-like as possible, in his advanced years. The world deserves a lot more woos, Nature Boy!
