WWE News: Ric Flair reveals the real reason for John Cena's success

One sixteen time world champion praises another!
One sixteen time world champion has high praise for another one!

What's the story?

Ric Flair caught up with Starsport and discussed a variety of topics related to WWE and sports entertainment in general. One of the topics discussed pertained to fellow 16-time world champion, John Cena.

Flair mentioned what factors contributed in making Cena the face of sports entertainment. He did add that if Cena had kids, he wouldn't be as successful.

In case you didn't know...

Ric Flair was the NWA World Champion for a significant part of the 80s, carrying the promotion on his able shoulders. While the actual number varies, depending on who you hear it from, it is believed that Flair has held 16 world championships.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

John Cena tied the figure for number of World Championships held with Flair in 2017. He seems poised to break Flair's record, very soon. As of right now, Cena is simultaneously also pursuing an acting career in Hollywood.

The heart of the matter

Flair believed that Cena's longevity could be owed not merely to his in-ring work, but also all the 'Make a Wish' appearances he does:

John is just an in-ring performer. He's very good in interviews, number one. Number two, he exhausts himself giving his off time to stuff he doesn't get paid for. Kids love him.

Flair gushed with praise for Cena, and mentioned what sets him apart:

He conducts himself, carries himself, he's very classy and he is very very well-read and very intellectual and that speaks volumes. We don't have a lot of people like that.

Flair did add that had Cena been a father, he wouldn't have had the same level of success.

He summed it up by saying that if you didn't respect Cena, you didn't respect anybody.

What's next?

We wait for the inevitable day when Cena breaks Flair's record to become a 17 time WWE Champion.

Author's take

Flair and Cena are fast friends, and hence the former is a little biased. However, everything he said in the interview is accurate, and whether you like him or not, Cena is worthy of everyone's respect.

However, as a Flair fan first, Cena will never even be in the same league as The Nature Boy, in my opinion.
