The heart of the matter
Ric Flair has said that The Rock has derived much influence for his persona from "The Nature Boy" himself. Flair made this statement when he was questioned about The Rock in an interview with NBC Sports Radio.
In the interview, Flair stated that The Rock himself would admit that he has had some influence on the character and the persona of The Rock. His exact words were, "I think he'll admit that a lot of me was him".
In many ways, Ric Flair and Dwayne Johnson do have very similar personalities when they are in the ring. Both "The Nature Boy' and "The People's Champion" display a great amount of confidence and arrogance with regard to their abilities.
They also aren't afraid to show their fondness for the finer things in life, like expensive clothes and watches. Who can forget The Rock and Ric Flair's love for the infamous Rolex watches?
Flair continued to talk about the various other wrestlers he had influenced, especially those he had taken directly under his wing, like Randy Orton.
What's next?
Currently, Flair is recovering from a coma and is working towards getting back on his feet. Flair seems to be doing well and fans around the world pray for his health.
The Rock, on the other hand, is continuing his successful Hollywood career, having been rumoured to be in the race for the leading role in an upcoming Pokemon movie.
Whether or not these two will return to the squared circle anytime soon, is yet to be revealed.
Author's take
Ric Flair is an absolute legend in the pro wrestling business and it would be extremely hard to find a wrestler who hasn't been influenced in some way or the other by "The Nature Boy".
He is currently still in recovery and we hope that he will be up on his feet and ready to 'Woo' as soon as possible.
