What’s the story?
Former WWE superstar Rich Swann has landed his first post-WWE booking. Swann, who was released by WWE last day, will be appearing at The Big Event Convention on March 10, 2017.
In case you did not know…
Rich Swann and WWE mutually separated last day. Swann started his WWE journey back in 2015 and spent some time in NXT before entering the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament. Swann then went on to become the Cruiserweight champion on the premiere episode of 205 Live.

Things, however, went downhill for Swann after he was arrested for battery and kidnapping/false imprisonment. He was taken off the WWE television as a result and though the charges against him were later dismissed, Swann’s return to WWE never happened.
Before signing with WWE, the 27-year-old had worked in various Independent promotions like Evolve, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Chikara, and CZW among others.
Heart of the matter
Swann will make his first post-WWE appearance for the Big Event Convention in early March. The event will be held in Queens, New York and Swann will be seen signing autographs and posing for photos with the fans.
What’s next?
As of now, this is the only announced appearance of Rich Swann following his release from WWE. Swann is yet to release an official statement about his separation from WWE.
Author’s take
WWE’s release of Swann is a confusing one. While the battery charges might’ve played a huge role in WWE’s decision, it’s surprising that the promotion went on to release him even after he was cleared of these mentioned charges.
Swann, meanwhile, will not have problem finding work in the independent scene as he came through the system before making it into the WWE. The WWE stint will raise his market value as well.
