What’s the story?
In a recent interview with CBS Sports, Roman Reigns opened up on a myriad of topics.
Reigns touched upon the possibility of him facing Brock Lesnar for the latter’s WWE Universal Championship at Wrestlemania 34. Besides, “The Big Dog” also spoke about having unfinished business with both Lesnar and Seth Rollins owing to the latter interfering in their Wrestlemania 31 match.
In case you didn’t know…
Roman Reigns challenged Brock Lesnar for the latter’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Wrestlemania 31.
Towards the end of the back-and-forth matchup, Seth Rollins cashed in his Money In The Bank contract; inserting himself into the match, and then pinning Roman Reigns to win the WWE World Heavyweight title.
The heart of the matter
Roman Reigns recalled the aforementioned matchup and asserted that he still has a score to settle with Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins. Reigns added that a match with Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34 is definitely on the cards, and what validates the idea of the matchup is that their encounter at Wrestlemania 31 was a barnburner.
Additionally, Reigns explained that although the match didn’t feel good on his body, upon re-watching it and seeing the outcome, story, reaction & the rollercoaster ride that the fans took with them, it was one of his finer days at work. Reigns stated—
“It's not my favourite because it didn't feel good, but going back and seeing it and the outcome and the story and the reaction and just the rollercoaster ride that the crowd took with us, it was one of my finer days at work. There's always gonna be that animosity to wanna finish the job. Not only towards Brock but towards Seth for interrupting that. The key is to be able to get to that point and deliver and capitalize—hopefully I'll get the shot.”
Furthermore, Reigns continued that he’s first got to make it through the Elimination Chamber unscathed, and then move on to Suplex City at Wrestlemania.
What’s next?
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, John Cena, Elias, Finn Balor, The Miz and Braun Strowman compete in the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match, which takes place at the Elimination Chamber PPV on February 25th.
The vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that Roman Reigns is the favourite to win the Elimination Chamber Match, and challenge Brock Lesnar for the latter’s Universal title at Wrestlemania 34 in April.
Author’s take
Kudos to Roman Reigns for exhibiting his passion & drive for the WWE, and more importantly, hyping potential feuds with Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins while he’s at it.
Reigns is perhaps one of the most underappreciated talents in the professional wrestling business today, and although most of the hardcore fans may love to hate him, one can’t deny that “The Big Dog” has the “IT” factor.
