What’s the Story?
Roman Reigns was attacked by Braun Strowman on the latest episode Raw and as a result suffered several “injuries” according to WWE.com. However, Reigns is still scheduled to wrestle in the live events for this week according to the listing on WWE’s website.
WWE will be forced to go against the kayfabe storyline as Reigns has been advertised in advance and any cancellation could lead to backlash.
In case you didn’t know....
During a backstage sit-down segment with Michael Cole regarding the retirement of The Undertaker, Strowman attacked Reigns midway through the interview and seemingly hospitalised him in the storyline.
Reigns has sustained a separated shoulder and few cracked ribs from the beatdown according to WWE’s latest statement,
Reigns has been silent on social media since the beatdown on Raw. Strowman, though, would respond by informing Reigns that the WWE wasn’t his yard.
The beatdown was thoroughly enjoyed Reigns' haters, but the disdain amongst his fans eventually caused a petition to be drafted on Change.org calling for Strowman’s release. Strowman would respond by sending out the following tweet:
The heart of the matter
Looking through the WWE Live Event information on WWE.com, Reigns is still being advertised for tonight’s Live Event in Providence, Rhode Island at the Dunkin Donut’s Center.
This could indicate that the WWE simply didn’t update their website in time or it could mean that Reigns could make an appearance on tonight’s show despite the devastating attack on Raw. It’s not like it hasn’t happened in the past, as Baron Corbin wrestled at a live event the night after he was injured as part of the storyline on SmackDown due to which he was taken off the Survivor Series team.
Many fans already knew that the injuries were more than likely kayfabe, but Reigns returning to the ring so quickly will probably upset a lot of people.

What’s next?
Reigns is also advertised to appear at the Live Event in Augusta, Georgia at the James Brown Center on Sunday, so those “injuries” apparently won’t stop him from wrestling.
If Reigns doesn’t appear at the house show tonight, then he probably won’t be at the show on Sunday too. However, Reigns could appear on Raw next week to set up his Payback match with Strowman.
Author’s take
The beating Strowman gave to Reigns made the ‘Monster Among Men’ look like a devastating monster. He has regained all the momentum he lost at the hands of Reigns and The Undertaker heading into WrestleMania and it would all go to waste if Reigns returns to action so soon.
The sheer magnitude of the attack should put him out of action for weeks. Especially when you consider how Triple H injured Reigns’ nose in the buildup to WrestleMania 32 and Reigns was off TV and house shows for almost an entire month.
If Reigns comes back from this injury angle too soon, it will be viewed as the WWE presenting Reigns as Superman by completely ignoring kayfabe and this will only deepen fan hatred.
