Former WWE Superstar Wade Barrett, explained in an interview with Wrestle Zone Radio why League of Nation was created. Though at first, it seemed as if it was done to push a bunch of talented Superstars who were stuck in midcard, it now seems like the LON was created just to push Roman Reign. The League of Nation, during their run, cost Roman Reign the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble and also beat him down a couple more times to garner the sympathy which ‘babyface’ Roman Reigns was in dire need of .
At the 2016 Royal Rumble, The League of Nation beat down Roman Reigns with the assault weakening Reigns. The subsequent entry of Triple H at Number 30 at this year Royal Rumble did help Roman Reigns get over to an extent with the crowd but he went on to win WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 32, the live crowd booed him out of the building.
The League of Nation was rewarded with a win over WWE Tag Team Champions New Day at Wrestlemania 32 in a non-title match and they went their separate ways soon after that.
Sadly, a heel faction which had the potential to be great just became a vehicle to push Roman Reigns. Unfortunately, most of the Superstars from League of Nation with the exception of Wade Barret, who has left WWE, are.all languishing in the mid-card. Rusev, who is now WWE US Champion, is the only one who’s in a better position following the League of Nations angle.
Hopefully, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio will find a relevant storyline in the future.
