WWE News: Rosey asked fans to go easy on his brother Roman Reigns in his last Facebook live video

What’s the story?

The recently deceased WWE Superstar Matt Anoa’i, better known in the WWE as Rosey, asked fans to go easy on his real-life brother, Roman Reigns in a Facebook live video. This was, reportedly, Rosey’s last Facebook live video before his untimely passing on 18th April 2017.

A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.

In case you didn’t know...

Matt Anoa’i, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sika from the Wild Samoans, was a member of the WWE roster from 2002-2006. Matt, better known as Rosey in the WWE, competed as a part of the tag team “3 Minute Warning” with his cousin Edward “Jamal” Fatu.

Anoa’i would then go on to become on half of a tag team with Shane “Hurricane” Helms, while his cousin Edward would be repackaged as Umaga. Anoa’i was released by the WWE in 2006 and would wrestle in the independent territories for the rest of his career, before his passing.

Anoa’i was also the real-life brother of Leati Anoa’i, better known in the WWE as Roman Reigns.

The heart of the matter

Matt Anoa’i took to Facebook live on April 10th, 2017, where he recorded a video from his car, asking fans to just let his brother Roman Reigns “do what he does.” He was quoted as saying:

“You guys gotta remember that my brother is... he's... 15 years older (younger) than me. Look, you guys just let my brother do what he does. I would love it, on the bottom of my heart, if you guys just let my brother do what he does. Man... he's not a bad wrestler and he's excelling to a point that yes, at one point, you guys are gonna be like, oh... shit. Maybe you'll love him!”

During the course of the Live video, Anoa’i would become slightly more frustrated with people booing Roman Reigns as he would go on to say:

“Kiss my ass if you guys want to boo my brother, whatever! Bullshit! Who cares?”

Rosey then said that he wanted his brother to turn heel “really bad”. He was quoted as saying:

“How do you sit there and boo my brother? I love it! I do, I really do because I want him to be a heel so bad.”

The Live video was reportedly Rosey’s last, as he passed away a few days later at the age of 47, due to congestive heart failure.

The Impact

The loss of Matt Anoai at a relatively young age is definitely a huge blow to the professional wrestling community and to the Anoai wrestling family. Even though Matt Anoai had a relatively brief tenure in the WWE, his contribution to the business cannot be denied.

With his cousin Eddie “Umaga” Fatu having passed away in 2009 due to a drug overdose, the 3-Minute warning is now no more, but they will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of the WWE Universe.

Author’s take

Matt Anoai certainly felt bad about the treatment that the fans have been shelling out towards his brother. Roman Reigns is one of the most talented performers in the WWE today and doesn’t deserve all the flack that he gets.

As of now, it doesn’t look like Reigns will turn heel as WWE continue to place their trust in him. So Rosey’s wish to have Roman turn heel may not come true anytime soon but you can never say never in wrestling.

Matt Anoai was very passionate about the wrestling business, as can be seen from the video and his loss is a great one to the wrestling community. We hope that his soul rests in peace and that his brother may continue carrying forward the legacy of the Anoai wrestling family for many years to come.
