#1 How Mark Henry lied to get Daniel Bryan signed by WWE

Mark Henry is no longer a part of WWE, but he certainly has a lot of stories to tell from his time at Vince McMahon's promotion.

Daniel Bryan is a highly popular figure among WWE and pro wrestling fans today. However, Henry recently revealed on the Oral Sessions podcast that he had to lie to improve Bryan's chances of getting signed by WWE many years ago.

History has proven that superstars with large physiques are often favored by Vince McMahon and other WWE higher-ups. Since Daniel Bryan didn't fit into that category of performers, Henry lied about Bryan’s height and weight to WWE executive John Laurinaitis.

“I got his information and I passed it on to Johnny Ace [John Laurinaitis],” Mark Henry said. “Johnny [said], ‘Erm, how big is he?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, he’s like six feet, six-one, about 200 pounds.’ I just lied through my teeth because I knew that they wanted bigger guys. He said, ‘Well, we’ll bring him in.’ Once I transferred that information, boom, they started doing all the scouting. I never touched him again. I never said nothing until he ended up in FCW [WWE’s former development system] and here we are, Hall of Fame guy.”

Despite being billed at five-foot-ten and 210 pounds by WWE, Daniel Bryan's hard work has earned him world title wins throughout his career.

Mark Henry has also played a part in WWE recruiting current champions such as Apollo Crews and Bianca Belair. Now that Henry is a member of the AEW staff, many people expect him to guide the younger crop of performers based on his decades-long experience in the industry.
