Welcome to the WWE News Roundup for August 18, 2024. Today's edition features topics about Brock Lesnar and Charlotte Flair.
Plus, a big update on John Cena's future, unseen footage of Roman Reigns after SmackDown, and more. With that in mind, let's get started:
#1 Roman Reigns scares a referee at WWE SmackDown
It was a bad night for Roman Reigns on the latest episode of SmackDown, as Solo Sikoa's Bloodline faction knocked him down in a brawl. Fans in attendance captured what happened after the show went off the air.

Interestingly, Reigns threatened to attack one referee following the beatdown. The official was only trying to help him, as you can see in the footage below:
Now that he is a babyface again, Roman Reigns also gave one of his t-shirts to someone in the crowd after SmackDown.
#2 Charlotte Flair is the "best bet" against a top champion, according to Kevin Nash
Charlotte Flair, one of the most accomplished stars in professional wrestling, has been on hiatus after suffering a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus last year. She is on the road to making her in-ring return.
Wrestling legend Kevin Nash thinks Flair could be a tough opponent for WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax. During an episode of his Kliq This podcast, Nash said:
"Charlotte Flair, at 5'10'', probably is your best bet against her [Nia Jax]. I saw Charlotte back at the Performance Center with her knee brace on. She's getting ready to make a return."
Nia Jax physically dominates her rivals with ease inside the squared circle. While many superstars are at a disadvantage against the champion because of this, Charlotte Flair's athletic prowess also puts her on a different level.
As a result, Flair could have a good chance of dethroning Jax, should the two fight in a championship match at some point down the line.
#3 Bobby Lashley officially leaves WWE
After much speculation over Bobby Lashley's future, the major star's second tenure in WWE has concluded. He plans to continue wrestling elsewhere.
Lashley's contract expired, and a recent move from World Wrestling Entertainment confirmed his status. His profile was added to the Alumni section on the company's website. You can see this below:
Earlier this month, Bobby Lashley admitted that he hasn't "really had too much of a connection" with Triple H.
#4 Brock Lesnar looks quite different in a new photo
Brock Lesnar has made numerous public appearances lately, and he seems to be enjoying his time away from the wrestling world. A recent picture of him went viral.
Lesnar appears to have lost some weight. You can check out the photo below, in which he can be seen sporting a mutton chops beard:
#5 John Cena confirms WWE RAW appearance
World Wrestling Entertainment has yet to confirm RAW's official start date on Netflix next year. However, John Cena already knows he "will be there" for the debut in January 2025.
While speaking to Complex, Cena mentioned his status for the show:
"It's a history-making day for WWE. I'm so very proud of WWE. Man, I'm such a fan of the merger. I love the two companies, WWE and Netflix, and it's an event that I will not miss. I will be there."
John Cena's upcoming appearance will be part of his retirement tour throughout 2025. It remains to be seen who the babyface megastar will face next.
