Greetings and welcome to yet another edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's WWE News Roundup. Today, we will cover some exciting topics related to top names like former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
We witnessed one of the most disgusting acts on WWE television last week on SmackDown when Solo Sikoa's Bloodline brutally attacked 58-year-old Heyman and left him lying after powerbombing him through the announcer's table. What could the future entail for The Wiseman?
Apart from that, we will also take a look at the potential reason a former United States Champion was let go by the Stamford-based promotion.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
1) Paul Heyman could return with a new character
While speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts predicted that Paul Heyman's next TV appearance will feature a returning Roman Reigns by his side. The wrestling analyst suggested that The Wiseman might undergo a character change upon his return.
"I do believe when [Paul] Heyman comes back, he will be freshly shaved and his hair will look perfect. He'll have the most put-together suits you've ever seen. Maybe he will be jacked. Maybe, he will lose a couple of pounds. And I think you'll see a rejuvenated Paul Heyman because I don't think we'll see him back until we see the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns back in the WWE," Sam Roberts said.
The reason why Heyman had to face brutality at the hands of Sikoa was because he refused to betray Roman Reigns by acknowledging Sikoa as the new Tribal Chief. With Solo running roughshod over SmackDown, fans eagerly anticipate the return of the true Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.
2) Shinsuke Nakamura gives an update
Former Intercontinental, Champion Shinsuke Nakamura recently gave an update on his wrestling career, while speaking at UFC 303. The 44-year-old stated that he had no intentions of leaving the Stanford-based promotion anytime soon as he is looking forward to giving fans more dream matches.
"Yeah, so I have been wrestling for over eight years right now [in WWE]. So, I want to keep wrestling in WWE. So, I want to give fans more dream [matches]. So, that's what I want to do." said Nakamura.
The former NXT Champion has not had a stellar run on the main roster. Despite arriving with much fanfare, he has fizzled into the mid-card. Even a feud with top names like Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins could not rejuvenate Nakamura. The company needs to figure out a way to elevate the veteran and make him a viable threat.
3) Ricochet let go by WWE because of his wrestling style?
Former United States Champion, Ricochet, officially left the company after his contract was not renewed. Hall of Famer, Booker T stated on his podcast that he believes The One and Only was not a fit within the company stylistically. While he praised Ricochet, the legend thought that the former North American Champion could never truly shine in the Stamford-based company.
"When I first saw Ricochet do something that was one of the most amazing things I'd ever seen... I really don't think we got a chance to really see it in WWE. I was always high on Ricochet. I just think Ricochet stylistically might not have been a match up for the WWE," stated Booker.
Ricochet had been with the company for six years before departing. He was written off RAW after being brutally attacked by Bron Breakker. He was last seen taken to a hospital in an ambulance. It will be interesting to see what he will do now that he is a free agent.
