WWE NXT Champion Karrion Kross recently posted a picture of John Cena on his social media account. The latter quickly responded with a picture of Kross, which sent WWE fans into a frenzy.

The chain of events started when a fan commented that Cena should retire after facing Kross. The Twitter user argued that the WWE legend has never faced someone like Kross, and that he can put young talent over on his way out.

To everyone’s surprise, John Cena responded by posting a photo of Karrion Kross on his Instagram account. Fans have often wondered if Cena will return for one final in-ring encounter, and it appears that the 16-time world champion wants to face an NXT Superstar. If booked, this could be huge for the Black and Gold brand.

Karrion Kross had a dream start to his WWE career, winning the NXT Championship shortly after his debut. Unfortunately, he had to relinquish the title as he sustained a serious injury on the same night. Kross recently returned and defeated Finn Balor for the coveted prize at WWE NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.
