Roddy Piper is undoubtedly one of professional wrestling’s greatest antagonists. He could get heat like no other before. He was the prime villain of WWE’s Golden Era and was head to head with the biggest hero of the time, the All-American Hulk Hogan.
Though Roddy Piper never captured the elusive WWF Championship, many felt that he did not need it for his legitimacy, similar to how many felt that Jake “The Snake” Roberts did not need any title at all. Roberts himself has gone on the record to call the championships “overrated”
Roddy Piper sadly passed away last year on July 31st of a Heart Attack. Before he died, he was penning an autobiography, but could not complete it due to his unfortunate incident. However, his children – Ariel Teal Toombs, and Colt Baird Toombs have decided to complete it for him. This part-autobiography-part-biography will tell the epic story of Piper’s life, the story of a homeless runaway teenager to a professional wrestling and pop culture icon.

The book will be called Rowdy: The Roddy Piper Story, and is set to hit the shelves this October.
Piper had, in fact, traveled to Canada to dig up his past and take interviews with his old friends and family. In this journey, he encountered great tales and experiences as well as the negative experiences and the tragic separation from his family. The past was something that Piper rarely spoke about in his entire life. All these tales would lead up to what shaped his “Rowdy” persona that became so iconic.
The Miami Herald gave us an insight into some of the prime highlights that we can expect from Piper’s epic story:
· How he turned a sport into mass entertainment that reaped billions
· What it was like to step into “Piper’s Pit”
· His extraordinary tolerance for pain
· How he brawled outside the ring his whole life
· What kind of code he lived by -- in and out of the ring
· What Roddy was like as a friend and father
· How he continued to wrestle despite the toll of addiction on his battered body
· How his character and image channeled the seething rage born in his violent youth
Piper’s daughter Ariel Teal Toombs is a singer in Los Angeles, while his son Colt Baird Toombs is an amateur MMA fighter who lost his first professional fight and hasn’t competed ever since. However, he has turned his attention towards professional wrestling.
