Welcome back to Sportskeeda's daily WWE News & Rumor roundup and as always, some big stories are being discussed in the pro wrestling world.
Crown Jewel is currently the PLE in focus but Survivor Series is still amongst the 'Big 4' and CM Punk will most likely have a prominent spot on the card. A new update has emerged regarding a first-time-ever match for the Second City Saint.
A report on his wife, AJ Lee's potential return to WWE has also come to light and the signs of it happening are promising.
Today's roundup, however, ends with an unfortunate update about the personal life of a controversial wrestling veteran.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#1. CM Punk's Survivor Series match
Survivor Series: WarGames is scheduled to take place at the end of November and the card could feature most of the company's top names.
CM Punk is on currently on a hiatus after his brutal Hell in a Cell showdown against Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood. It seems evident that Punk is at least for now, done with McIntyre and will be looking to conquer new goals when he returns.
Ibou of WrestlePurists revealed that the plan right now is for CM Punk to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title at Survivor Series. Gunther will face Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel and it looks like his next major title feud will be against the returning CM Punk:
"CM Punk is facing Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship," said Ibou [51:28 onwards]
Punk promised to have some gold around his waist after wrapping up his program with McIntyre. Going by the rumors, he could get his first WWE world title shot in years at Survivor Series.
#2. John Laurinaitis and Kathy Colace have divorced
Since being named in Janel Grant's lawsuit, John Laurinaitis has faced no reprieve whatsoever from his legal troubles.
Laurinaitis was amongst the defendants mentioned in the lawsuit over sexual assault and trafficking. Due to his long-term and close association with Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis was also caught in the controversy that led to massive changes in WWE.
It has now been revealed that John Laurinaitis' marriage has also ended. The former Head of Talent Relations was married to the mother of Nikki and Brie Garcia, Kathy Colace, who recently opened up about her divorce.
"I will tell you how the experience is from someone that goes through it. You need time, you need silence. This is for anyone. We all have our stories and we all have our challenges. My thought is, let yourself feel every emotion. One day, life is fine, and the next day you're hit with something that just rocks your world. You actually feel a paralysis to yourself," Colace said on The Nikki and Brie Show. [H/T - WrestlingInc]
Laurinaitis has not been involved in any capacity with WWE since his ousting in 2022. The scandalous lawsuit has ensured that the 62-year-old remains a contentious name in the business.
#3. WWE open to an AJ Lee comeback
The statement above, for starters, should not surprise anyone. In her prime, AJ Lee was one of the most popular female stars on the roster, and her WWE career might have ended too soon for the fanbase's liking.
Lee wrestled her final match in 2015 and has since not returned for another full-time run. Her husband CM Punk ended his long WWE hiatus at last year's Survivor Series.
Fans naturally yearn to see AJ Lee also compete, and as far as the company is concerned, they would love to have her back.
As revealed on the Backstage Pass Live Q&A with WrestleVotes and Bill Apter, WWE would readily welcome AJ Lee if she picks up the phone and responds positively.
WrestleVotes noted:
"The answer to that is as far as I know, WWE is totally on board for it, they would welcome it. She picks up the phone, she says 'I'm in,' they're going to say 'Yes, what took you so long?' I would say the only two people that probably know that answer are AJ Lee and CM Punk, and whatever that answer may be, it's up to them so we'll see." (From 20:20 to 20:37)
The former Divas Champion is one of the most respected and loved female stars of the modern era who would be a great asset to have as WWE shapes the next generation under Triple H.
