Greetings and welcome to yet another edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's WWE News and Rumor Roundup. Today, we will cover some exciting topics related to top names like the current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Alexa Bliss.
Cody Rhodes and CM Punk have tough tasks ahead of them at SummerSlam, as they will take on Solo Sikoa and Drew McIntyre respectively this weekend. Meanwhile, The Straight Edge Superstar hasn't ruled out the possibility of having a feud with The American Nightmare down the road.
Apart from that, we will also take a look at what the future has in store for Alexa Bliss. Let's start:
#3. CM Punk comments on possibly facing Cody Rhodes
During an interview with Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina, The Best in The World discussed the possibility of a feud with current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Punk mentioned that he would leave it up to fans to decide which star to cheer or boo, as it would be a clash between two ''strong personalities.''
"I think, and this is the nicest thing I'll probably say about Seth Rollins. I think when it's Superstar vs. Superstar, right? If it's Cody [Rhodes] and [CM] Punk, or if it's Punk and Seth [Rollins], I think that is the rare air magic, where we get to let the fans just do whatever you [sic] want. It's just two strong personalities," he said. [
Punk will lock horns with Drew McIntyre in his first televised singles match on WWE TV since his return at Survivor Series last year. Seth Rollins will be the Special Guest Referee in the match.
#2. Update regarding Alexa Bliss' future
Former RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss has been on a hiatus since the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event in January 2023. In May 2023, she announced her pregnancy. The Goddess welcomed her daughter in November last year.
Rumors had been circulating recently that Little Miss Bliss could return soon. However, Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp reported that he has not heard of any current plans for Alexa Bliss to return to television. While the former Ms. Money in the Bank might be ready or close to returning, there have been no teasers regarding her return.
#1. Meiko Satomura is reportedly done with WWE and seemingly won't return following her retirement announcement
Legendary wrestler Meiko Satomura recently announced that she would retire from in-ring duties in April 2025. Satomura is a former NXT UK Women's Champion and one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. She recently locked horns with Bayley during the Stamford-based promotion's recent tour of Japan. However, the 44-year-old hasn't appeared on WWE TV since March 2023.
Fightful Select has reported that there is a belief that the veteran will make no more appearances for WWE, as there are seemingly no plans for her to return to NXT ahead of her retirement next year. The report also stated that the reason behind Satomura's absence on television has been kept a secret, with only the legendary star and WWE top brass knowing the reason.
Satomura signed with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut in October 2020. It will be interesting to see if she makes a surprise appearance on television in the coming months.
