#1. Why Vince McMahon dislikes mentioning championships/titles as 'belts' in WWE
Championships and titles are common terms used in WWE, but they are never referred to as 'belts' due to Vince McMahon's mindset behind the word.
During a recent talk with Bally Sports' Brandon Robinson, R-Truth stated that according to McMahon, "belt" is a word to describe "something you use to keep your pants up," and not a prestigious accomplishment for any superstar.
"Whether if it's WWE — and it's not called a belt. It's called a championship or a title. Vince McMahon says a belt is something you use to keep your pants up. So it's a championship title, you see what I'm sayin'? [laughing]," said R-Truth.
Back in September, a report by Dave Meltzer included a list of banned terms within McMahon's company. In addition to "belt," another word — strap — cannot be used by superstars to describe championships on-screen.
This list was provided to the talent ahead of WrestleMania 37, which took place across two nights back in April 2021.
